Basement depth indicates how much of the basement is embedded in the ground. For example, a basement depth of 70% means that 70% of the basement is surrounded by soil, while the remaining 30% is exposed to outside air.

A higher percentage represents greater contact with the earth, while a lower percentage indicates more exposure to outside air and less contact with the ground.
